Mentor working through a hands-on security automation lab with a small group of learners
Learn by doing. Ship real labs. Prove the readiness.

THE PROGRAM

Education built around how the work is actually done

WHO IT IS FOR

Analysts, responders, career changers, veterans

Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysts, junior engineers, incident responders, students, and transitioning service members who want to move into security automation.

  • No Python experience required to start
  • Self-paced modules plus mentor check-ins
  • Veteran and military transition support

WHAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO

Build governed automation

Automate enrichment, write Python for security tasks, integrate tools via REST APIs, build SOAR playbooks, wire SIEM to SOAR, automate response safely, use AI responsibly, design governance, and capture evidence.

  • Three core labs and a capstone
  • Portfolio-ready work product
  • Readiness assessment and feedback

CREDENTIAL

RDX Certified SOAR Engineer (RCSE)

Participants who complete the program, the capstone, and the assessment are eligible for the RCSE completion credential, verifiable online. The credential recognizes demonstrated work. Completing the program does not guarantee the credential, employment, or placement.

  • Exam plus capstone
  • Verifiable digital certificate
  • Recognized across RDX programs

CURRICULUM

The eleven-module path

Roughly 32 hours of module content, worked through at your own pace within the six-month mentorship, alongside a job or transition.

MODULE 1

Modern SOC Operations

How a security operations center runs, where automation fits, and what analysts actually do all day.

MODULE 2

Python for Security Automation

The scripting foundation for every lab that follows. No prior programming required.

MODULE 3

Threat Intelligence Enrichment

Core lab: enrich indicators through real intelligence sources and REST APIs.

MODULE 4

REST APIs for Security Tooling

Integrate security tools the way production engineers do.

MODULE 5

SOAR Playbook Development

Core lab: build a governed playbook with approval gates and evidence.

MODULE 6

SIEM & SOAR Integration

Wire detections to automated response safely.

MODULE 7

Incident Response Automation

Automate the repeatable parts of response without removing the human decision.

MODULE 8

AI-Assisted Security Operations

Core lab: use AI responsibly inside the SOC workflow, with governance.

MODULE 9

Governance & Approval Workflows

Design the controls that make automation defensible.

MODULE 10

Career Development

Portfolio, resume, interview preparation, and the RDX Certified SOAR Engineer (RCSE) readiness path.

MODULE 11

SIEM-to-SOAR Transfer

Signature lab in the built-in sandbox: end-to-end detection to response.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Module 2 teaches the Python you need, and every lab builds on it step by step.

How long does it take?

The mentorship runs six months. The module content is about 32 hours and is self-paced within that window; labs, portfolio work, and mentor check-ins fill the rest.

Is it hands-on?

Yes. Three core labs, a signature sandbox lab, and a capstone are the heart of the program.

Does it cost anything?

RDX Academy is RDX's community education initiative. Participation is by application and subject to capacity and eligibility; we will discuss any program specifics during the application review.

Does completing the program get me a job at RDX?

No guarantee. Participants who meet the readiness standard may be considered for RDX opportunities, and all participants join the RDX learning community.

I run a workforce or veteran program. Can we partner?

Yes. Contact RDX and we will talk through a cohort or pathway partnership.
